Hazen Computer Labs
Hazen has six general-purpose computer labs which teachers schedule for class use. Additional computers are available in the Library and in Computers on Wheels laptop carts (COWs).

Students are able to use a variety of tools and software while working on assignments, presentations and projects. Some of what’s available: video cameras, digital cameras, Microsoft Office 2013 including PowerPoint, Publisher, Word and Excel, and CD-burning capabilities. Printers are provided for assignment-related printing only. Teacher permission must be given for use of the color printer. All school equipment must be checked out through a staff member, including cameras, presentation equipment, etc. Equipment may be used on school grounds only.

Students may access computers before school and during their lunch as long as the lab/library is not scheduled for class use. Students requiring a computer to work on a school assignment are given preference during lunchtimes. Although not required, many students find that using a flash drive is very helpful for transporting assignments back and forth from school to home. Students are not allowed to download programs onto school computers, either through use of the Internet or from personal storage devices. Playing games is never allowed in the computer labs during class, but is allowed in the library only during lunch, before or after school.

Computer Labs are not available before or after school, but students may use Library computers from 7:00 to 3:00. Access to the Computer Lab and Library is given with a teacher-signed pass. A signed “Technology Resources User Agreement”  is required for staff and students wishing to use District-provided technology.

Beginning with the 2016-2017 School year the Renton School District will be moving from the traditional "technology Resources User Agreement, to a Responsible Use Policy (RUP)
The Responsible Use Policy (RUP). A RUP is a policy that treats the student as a person who is responsible for their own ethical and appropriate use of the Internet and their devices. The students will also be learning digital citizenship and expand on their technology skills in the upcoming school year.In addition to updating this policy, staff and student/guardian signatures are no longer required. Instead, students will receive this information in their Student Handbook. Please include the attached form in place of the previous “technology” or “computer use” section. Board of Director Policy and Procedures will be updated soon with the updated RUP.
