I have been teaching Health Science and Health & Fitness in Renton since 2002, preceded by four years of teaching Sports Medicine at Sammamish High School in Bellevue.

  • Bachelor’s in Exercise Science / Athletic Training from Western Washington University
  • Vocational Teaching Certification Program from Central Washington University
  • Master’s in School Counseling from Seattle University

In 2018-19 I will be teaching Healthcare Career Exploration, Healthcare Core Skills, Sports Medicine Exploration, CERT, and Emergency Medicine (A&B).

  • NATA Certified Athletic Trainer since 1998
  • Washington State Licensed Athletic Trainer since this was available in 2008
  • RSD Athletic Trainer from 2002 to 2014
  • I have provided athletic training services at the high school level for many sports at the league (regular season & playoffs), district, & state levels
  • I have also provided athletic training services at the collegiate level as a student athletic trainer at Western and as a Certificated Athletic Trainer for Pac-10/Pac-12 Swim & Dive Championships in Federal Way since 2005, including the NCAA Men's Swim & Dive tournament in 2008.
  • Washington State Emergency Medical Technician Certification since 1991.
  • Since 1991 I have also provided volunteer medical services off and on for a variety of other events including the Seattle Marathon, Komen 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk, and many Special Olympics events.

In 2014 I stepped down as the District Athletic Trainer for the Renton School District after being part of a team to successfully raise the awareness of the need for school-based coverage which is now contracted from Children’s Hospital. I remain an active Volunteer Fire Fighter / EMT with Eastside Fire & Rescue.
