Monday, March 5th

Good afternoon!

Nelsen Middle School, with the help of ASB is conducting a fundraising project for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Today kicks off the fundraising campaign called Pennies for Patients which goes until March 23rd. Last year, NMS raised over $3000. This year's current fundraising goal is set at $2500. Our class has chosen to set our 6th period class goal at $250. Each day, ASB students will be collecting and calculating each class's progress. Students are encouraged to bring in change, however this year, donations can also be made online through our class donation page. Any online donations that come from this link will also count towards our class goal. Copy and paste this link into your browser! Thank you in advance for your support as our students participate in an awareness and fundraising campaign for a charitable cause!

Wednesday, February 7th

2nd Semester is already here and in full swing. Let's all finish strong and make sure the 2nd half of this school year is even better than the 1st!

The 2nd semester covers Washington's impacts and contributions during the 1900's, up to today. I'm excited for students to get to learn about the social, economic and political changes that occurred throughout these time periods and how they shaped Washington into the state it is today.

Your child should have brought home an information sheet about the 2019 8th grade trip to New York City and Washington, DC. The first informational meeting will be held tomorrow evening, Thursday, February 8th at 6pm in the Nelsen Library. If you are interested in learning more about this trip but cannot make the meeting, please let either myself or Mrs. Szczepanski know and we will follow up with you. This year's 8th grade trip will be at the end of the school year in June, and attended by 40 students!

Tuesday, October 31st

It's hard to believe but the 1st quarter comes to a close this week! It's amazing how fast time goes when we're having fun. Students are definitely in the swing of things and I am proud of the effort and hard work they have put into their learning. Our classroom has clear routines and expectations in place, and the students are knocking it out of the park!

We are currently in the middle of Unit 3 which is a 3 Chapter Unit (Chapter 2,3,4). We are currently learning about The Oregon Trail and and interactions between Native Americans of the Pacific Northwest and settlers that moved to this area in the early to mid 1800's.

Unfortunately, this page only lets me post a few assignments to due space constraints, but I keep a running log and list of all assignments on my Canvas page, where everything can be found broken down by unit. The link to the page can be found under the LINKS tab!

Happy Fall!

Tuesday, September 26th

As we enter our 2nd month of school, space on this Swift site is becoming difficult to manage and the assignments I have posted have now taken up all of our space. Although I will be updating this with our daily activities picture, I will no longer be able to keep a running tab of our 1st quarter assignments, and will instead be keeping only the past couple most current ones up.

I am in the works of starting a Canvas page which students can access using their Renton district log-in information. The link to this site can be provided in the Links to Valuable resources/activities tab. I apologize that I cannot keep everything in one place. It does appear like Canvas has plenty of storage to keep all assignments and activities posted throughout the course of the year. Parents are also welcome to create their own account!

Thursday, August 31st

Greetings! This website will be a wonderful source for viewing class information and content as we journey through the 2017-18 school year. I will be updating frequently with tools, resources and other very important information as we venture through Washington State History. Posted daily, will also be a picture of the activities/homework for every school day under the Daily Assignments tab.

We will also be using to send class reminders and announcements. Parents are encouraged to join as well. To do that, text @7thsshults to 81010.

Reminders include homework, study tools, info on upcoming quizzes, along with electronic documents and pdf's that can be added as an attachment.

I am looking forward to a great school year together! GO HAWKS!
