Welcome to my class!

My name is Garrett Welfare and I am looking forward to my first year here at Renton High School.  I am originally from Aurora, Colorado (a suburb of Denver).  I have taught in two states (Minnesota and Colorado) prior to moving to Washington.

I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley in 2002 with a business major and a minor in mathematics where I also played football as an offensive lineman.  Upon graduation, I realized that I would prefer to be a teacher and coach rather than work in business.  After completing my teacher credentials, I taught for a year in Aurora, Colorado before moving to Minnesota for three years.  I returned to Colorado and taught for an additional seven years before making the move to Washington.

This past spring, 2015, I completed my masters degree from Arizona State University in Educational Administration.  Going into my twelfth year of teaching, I am looking forward to this change of scenery.

Here at Renton, I will be teaching Math Analysis and Algebra 1,2 as well as serving as an assistant football coach.  I look forward to having a wonderful year with all of you!
