Welcome to Piano class! Music is an integral part of a well-rounded educational program.  Research has shown that the study of music contributes to the building of self-discipline and self-awareness as well as giving unique opportunities for self- expression.

Objective! The objective of this program is to provide you with positive musical experiences and the opportunity to develop those qualities of self-discipline, self-awareness, and give you opportunities for self-expression through the continued development of keyboard skills.

Course Goals: Students will be introduced to the fundamental principles of musicianship and keyboard technique.  We will develop a better understanding of music terminology, music literature, playing technique, ensemble performance, chords and arpeggio patterns, and concert etiquette.

Course expectations:

  •  You will come to class each day with all your class materials.
  •  You will work on the assigned tasks for the entire duration of class.
  •  You will treat the teacher and classmates with respect.

Course materials:

  •  A dedicated 3-ring binder (to keep class materials and work) and a pencil in class every day.
  •  Class text: Alfred's Adult Piano Method, Book 1

Class Rules

  •  Respect – all students, all staff, all instruments and equipment, the classroom facility
  •  School rules and dress code apply
  •  No food or beverage (other than water)
  •  No gum
  •  No using of cell phones, I-pods or other electronic devices in class
