October 9th - 13th, 2017

If your child has not started reading their fiction chapter book for their "Hanging out with Fiction" project yet, they should start this week. It is important that they read a little bit every day. I would encourage that they start working on their hanging book mobiles by mid-October. Projects are due Monday, November 6th. Oral reports (4-8 minutes) will start on Tuesday, November 7th. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Make sure that you check your child's blue folder for any homework (homework log, math practice, etc.) sent home. Please make sure that your child brings their blue folder with their completed homework sheets back to school every day. Remember: your child is expected to do their homework logs over the weekend too. This means that they need to read for at least 20 minutes and practice their math skills for at least 10 minutes once during the weekend. If your child does not complete their homework, they will miss part or all of the following Friday's special recess ("Fun Friday" - 25 minutes) and stay in to do their uncompleted homework.

It is important that your child brings a sturdy water bottle to school. In addition, please provide a small healthy snack (no nuts) for your child each day. They will have about 5 minutes for snack time each morning (Monday - Thursday).

September 11th - 15th, 2017

For this week, make sure that you check your child's blue folder for any homework (homework log, math practice, etc.) sent home. Please make sure that your child brings their blue folder with their completed homework sheets back to school every day. In addition, our class has a spelling test every Thursday. It is important that your child studies their spelling words every night. The words are on their homework log.

Your child should have brought home a parent volunteer sheet. If you are interested in volunteering in our class, I would appreciate it if you return the form ASAP. I will contact you via email/phone. I'm hoping that we can get things started by the end of this month or at the start of October.
